SNL Weekend Update joked about Morgan Wallen's abrupt departure last week

Last week, country singer Morgan Wallen made a hasty and abrupt exit from the Saturday Night Live stage as credits rolled. He was the musical guest alongside Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison, but didn't want to stick around for goodbyes. Shortly after his departure, Wallen posted a picture of a plane with the caption "Get me to God's country," which naturally became a meme .

During this week's SNL episode -- which was hosted by A Minecraft Movie 's Jack Black -- the singer's quick escape came up twice. In the cold open , James Austin Johnson, used the "God's country" quote. Weekend Update also made a Wallen reference in a joke related to recent tariffs.



"Just in the past two days, investors have lost over six trillion dollars," Colin Jost said. "Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights." Elton John and Brandi Carlisle were musical guests on this week's episode.
