Prayagraj: To ensure foolproof security during the Maha Kumbh-2025, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the North Central Railway (NCR) would deploy sniffer dogs at all major railway stations, including Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Chheoki, Naini, and Subedarganj. "During the past Kumbh and Maha Kumbh , sniffer dogs were deployed only at Prayagraj Junction. However, this time they would also be deployed at the satellite stations of the city.

For this, the RPF has started training 22 sniffer dogs at the RPF Training Centre at Jhalwa as per the requirements of the mega religious event," said principal chief security commissioner, RPF, Amiya Nandan Sinha. He said these sniffer dogs of different breeds are already providing their services to RPF at different stations. "We would be deploying 22 of such sniffer dogs for Maha Kumbh as this would be a huge gathering, and we want to ensure safe travel for everyone.

Along with this, we would be purchasing and training thereafter, three dogs exclusively for narcotics," said Sinha. Inspector RPF, Prayagraj, SK Singh said, "Out of the 22 sniffer dogs, a maximum of seven sniffer dogs would be deployed at Prayagraj Junction, and four each at Naini Junction, Prayagraj Chheoki, and Subedarganj stations. Along with these four railway stations of the city, one sniffer dog each would be deployed at Mirzapur, Manikpur, and Fatehpur stations along with their handlers.

Apart from this, a bomb squad would also be deployed. However, its monitoring would be done by GRP. Railways is also increasing CCTV cameras at these four stations of NCR.

"Safety of passengers is paramount during Maha Kumbh. That is why strict security arrangements are being made. CCTV cameras are being increased," said PRO, Prayagraj Division, Amit Kumar Singh.
