Qualcomm has long offered the most powerful chipsets in the Android industry. Most Android brands turn to the North American supplier for the “core” of their flagship smartphones and tablets. The powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite was a sort of “rebranding” of the company’s high-end SoCs.

Now, the first performance benchmarks of its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, have leaked. The official unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is still a long way off. Considering the background, Qualcomm should unveil it sometime in Q3 2025.

The expectations are quite high after the huge improvements in raw power—without sacrificing energy efficiency—of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This is thanks in part to the new custom “Oryon” cores, which Arm, the chip architecture designer, is so upset about and tried to take Qualcomm to court over.Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 could have a CPU up to 25% more powerfulNow, reliable tipster Jukanlosreve has shared the first benchmark results for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

According to the X/Twitter post, the chip has the model number SM8850. In Geekbench 6 tests, the alleged Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chip scored 4,000 and 13,000 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. Overall, the SoC shows a 25% CPU performance increase in single-core tasks and a 20% increase in multi-core tasks.

The report also claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will have an Adreno 840 GPU clocked at up to 1.35GHz. For reference, the current Snapdragon 8 Elite has an Adreno 830 GPU running at up to 1.
