A Smock man is being held without bail after being accused of firing a pistol near two children during a fight with his girlfriend, according to a criminal complaint. State police allege Michael Warman fired a shot over the head of his girlfriend, Nicole Jackson, which traveled near the bedroom where two children, aged 9 and 11, were sleeping. According to police, Warman, 31, said he wanted to show Jackson he was serious about leaving the residence.

Police reported they were dispatched to the home on Morris Hollow Road in Franklin Township around 3 a.m. on Friday.

When Jackson called for help, Warman grabbed the phone and told a dispatcher he would be dead before police arrived, according to court paperwork. The dispatcher heard a gunshot and screams in the background, followed by a second shot and more screams, police said. During an interview, police said Warman admitted to firing the gun once.

Police said no one was injured. Along with felony child endangerment, Warman is charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment, simple assault and making terroristic threats. He was also cited for harassment.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month..
