The broadcaster is removing the children’s channel POP Max from all platforms on Tuesday, as confirmed by Sky on its website. It first launched in 2008 as Kix before rebranding to POP almost 10 years later in 2017. Sky aired POP Max and POP Max +1 on Sky Q and Sky+HD, as well as POP Max HD on Sky Glass and Sky Stream.
The channel was a favourite among children, known for showing animated programmes including Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series and Droners. The move by Sky follows POP Max being taken off Freeview last year, following a shift in digital streaming, reports The Sun . However, other POP-branded channels, including Tiny POP will remain on Sky, but some are moving as a result of the POP Max closure: It’s reported many of the children’s shows that previously aired on POP Max will continue to be available on demand via the free POP Player app.
