A skier is dead after reportedly crashing into a tree at Solitude Mountain Resort, according to officials with the Unified Police Department.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) -- A skier is dead after reportedly crashing into a tree at Solitude Mountain Resort, according to officials with the Unified Police Department.Daniel Megrelli, 53, of Connecticut, has been identified as the victim. He was found at the bottom of Middle Slope, Sgt.

Aymee Race with UPD told ABC4.com. Race said that the incident occurred around 1:15 p.



m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, and that it appears Megrelli may have crashed into a tree.

Responders with ski patrol attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died from his injuries. Megrelli was wearing full protective gear, including a helmet, at the time of the incident, Race said.There is no further information at this time.
