PYEONGCHANG, South Korea, Dec. 15 (Korea Bizwire) – With the winter season in full swing, ski resorts in Gangwon Province drew over 10,000 skiers and snowboarders on December 15, as visitors took to the slopes to enjoy the holiday weekend. Notable resorts such as Phoenix Pyeongchang and Mona Yongpyong, which opened on November 29, saw large crowds navigating their beginner and intermediate slopes.
Mona Yongpyong is currently operating six slopes, with plans to fully open by the end of the year, alongside various events to attract visitors. Phoenix Snow Park has introduced après-ski performances and late-night skiing programs, offering a range of activities for weekend adventurers. Meanwhile, all nine ski resorts across Gangwon, including Elysian Gangchon in Chuncheon, have officially opened for the season, with more slopes expected to be operational as colder weather and snow arrive in the coming weeks.
A ski resort representative noted, “Although not all slopes are open yet, we anticipate more skiers as additional lifts start operating later this month. With the winter chill setting in and the school holiday season approaching, we’re preparing a variety of events to welcome more visitors.” As Gangwon’s ski resorts gear up for the peak winter season, they are poised to become a hub of activity for snow sports enthusiasts across the country.
