MIRI (Nov 12): SJKC Chung Hua Pujut is keeping the challenge trophy for good after scoring the most points to emerge overall champions among primary schools for the third consecutive year in the 22nd Miri Inter-School Archery Tournament 2024 held at Pemasa Miri outdoor field from Nov 8 to 10. SMK Chung Hua Miri can do the same next year after beating seven other secondary schools and topping the competition for the second consecutive year.
Top individual performers were Muhd Aqil Arman of SK Jalan Bintang, Athena Koay of SJKC Chung Hua Pujut, Goi Ni Xin of SMK Lutong and Laura Lau of SM Pei Min. A total of 210 athletes representing schools in Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and Kuching competed in the tournament jointly organised by Persatuan Memanah Miri (Pemasa Miri) and King’s Archery. They were SJKC Chung Hua Pujut, SJKC Chung Hua Lutong, SJKC Chung Hua Krokop, SJKC North, SK Jalan Bintang; SMK St Columba, SMK Chung Hua Miri, SMK Lutong, SMK St Joseph, SMK Taman Tunku, SMK Lopeng Tengah, SM Pei Min, Riam Road Secondary School and Curtin University Malaysia.
Participants from outside Miri represented Pemasa Sibu, SK Kampung Baru in Bintulu, SJKC Chung Hua in Kuching and Borneo International School. The athletes vied for honours in the 14 categories of Junior Boys U10, Junior Girls U10, Junior Boys U11, Junior Girls U11, Junior Boys U12, Junior Girls U12, Boys Recurve U14, Girls Recurve U14, Boys Recurve U16, Girls Recurve U16, Boys Recurve U18, Girls Recurve U18, Boys Recurve Open, and Girls Recurve Open. There were five team events for Compound Open Mixed (Primary), Mixed Team Recurve (Primary), Mixed Team Recurve (Secondary), Team Event (Primary) and Team Event (Secondary).
