Mowbray Road is due to shut near the Queen Edith's Way roundabout from Monday, April 21 for vital works. These will be carried out by UK Power Networks (UKPN) to lay new cable in previously installed ducting.
The closure points along the road will change as the work progresses. The works are due to take place between the hours of 8am and 6pm, with the closure expected to last until Monday, June 16. Roadworks and a diversion route will be in effect, with access to residents and businesses maintained at all times.
The closure will follow other upcoming works by UKPN to install new electricity ducting on Cherry Hinton Road roundabout and Mowbray Road. These will be earlier in April, with temporary traffic lights in both areas. UKPN confirmed that they will be writing to affected residents.
Motorists are also being advised to plan their journeys if travelling during this period. The diversion route will take motorists via Queen Edith's Way, Hills Road, A603, Newmarket Road, Barnwell Road, Brooks Road, Perne Road and Mowbray Road, with the reverse route applying. It is estimated that this will add around six miles and 16 minutes onto journey times.
