Six people lost their lives on Friday while three others were injured after a Sienna space bus carrying them rammed into a moving truck around Verony, Ogere Remo along Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The accident which occurred at about 7:40am was blamed on excessive speed on the part of the Sienna bus driver after which he lost control and collided with the truck in motion. The truck driver was said to have refused to wait after the accident.

The Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists. Okpe said that the injured have been taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere for medical care while the corpses have been deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara She said, “FRSC Ogere Unit Comand carried out a rescue operation today, Friday, 30th August, 2024, at Verony, Ogere, on a crash that occurred at about 0740hrs. “The crash involved two vehicles with the following details: Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE692EL and a truck that could not be identified as it was on motion when the crash happened and didn’t stop after the crash.

“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Sienna Space Bus, which rammed into a moving truck from the rear. The truck did not wait after the incident”. Meanwhile, the Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin has described the crash as avoidable if proper caution was fully put in place by the driver.

Fasakin urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving as it is an act that requires such and obey all traffic rules while driving on the highway. He further commiserated with the families of the crash victims and wishes the injured victims.
