Stand-up comic and actor Vir Das called out Air India for their abysmal service during a recent flight with Shivani Mathur. Das mentioned how his wife was injured with a fractured leg, which is far from being recovered. He remarked that not only was the accommodation on the flight substandard but so was the nonchalant crew that refused to help the man and his wheelchair-bound wife.
In his detailed tweet, Vir Das stated that he booked Pranaam service along with a wheelchair owing to his wife’s fractured foot “ that’s still healing .” The seats cost Rs 50,000 each; however, it was not reflected in the cabin’s conveniences, which came with a “broken table, broken leg rests, ” and the wife’s seat that was “stuck reclined.” Vir Das remarked that the flyers were told the flight was “newly refurbished.
” The nightmarish flight did not end with the uncomfortable seating. Upon arrival, the comic found it’s a stepladder! The man with four pieces of luggage to carry asked the Air India crew for assistance, but they were silent and clueless. The pre-booked wheelchair was also missing.
Das further narrates the horrible experience We step off the plane to the top of the ladder. I ask an Air India male ground staff member to help us, looks at me, shrugs, and ignores me. My wife with a fracture makes it down the stepladder.
I tell an Air India staff member at the bottom near the buses what happened. He says, “sir kya Karein..
.sorry” While there was an abundance of wheelchairs, no staff were found to help around. Amid all the cacophony, the man himself did the job he had paid the airline for.
The comic urged Air India One of your wheelchairs is on the second floor of the parking in Delhi. Do claim it. While the airline responded, Vir Das again urged them to claim their wheelchair from the parking lot.
Reacting to the post, one user quipped, “ Air India se jaane se acha hai aadmi paidal chala jaye .” “ The Indian aviation industry is a joke these days ,” another user lamented. Dear @airindia Please reclaim your wheelchair.
I’m a lifetime loyalist. I believe you’ve got the nicest cabin crew in the sky, this post pains me to write. My wife and I book Pranaam and a wheelchair because she’s got a foot fracture that’s still healing.
We’re flying to delhi...

Vistara was the only good choice we had which is now being ruined by Air India. We desperately need better domestic carriers in India. — Bharat Jajoo (@JabardastJajoo) April 15, 2025 See Also: ‘Worst Thing With Trains In India Is.
