Sir Elton John has been pictured with his rarely-seen sons alongside husband David Furnish. The music legend, 77, has been married to David since 2014 and together they are parents to sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11. The family attended the 33rd Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy awards viewing party at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California.

It comes after Elton attended the 96th Oscars ceremony at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, in Los Angeles on Sunday night where he caught up with stars including Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner , Adrien Brody, and Ralph Fiennes. Over the weekend, Elton beamed as he posed alongside his sons Zachary and Elijah as they posed on the red carpet with David, 62. Elton and his now teenage sons posed arm-in-arm at the annual event.

Sir Elton has sadly suffered a decline in health over recent years , leaving the star frightful over his future with his family and two young sons. On Friday night, the music legend made an emotional revelation on BBC's The Graham Norton Show, where he appeared with collaborator Brandi Carlile to promote their upcoming track 'Who Believes In Angels?', due out on April 4. The music legend confessed that he "lost it" and needed comforting for 45 minutes when the new song made him confront his own mortality.

"Bernie Taupin (Elton's lyricist) gave me a lyric for a song called, 'When This Whole World Is Done With Me', and I'm writing the verse (music) quite quickly, and I think this is a really lovely verse," Elton recalled during his time on Graham's couch. He continued: "And then I get to the chorus, and I find that it's about my death, my demise. And as a 76 year old man, which I was at that time, and having children and having a husband, mortality, and you think about, 'How long have I got? How long? I hope I've got, much longer than maybe I've got.

"And so by the time I got to the chorus and suddenly realised that I started singing it (and) I lost it for 45 minutes. It was a very, very heavy moment for me," he admitted. He added: "After 45 minutes of being consoled, I was okay, but I recorded the next day.

..when you're singing about being washed out to sea and the end of your life, it took me by surprise.

" Elton previously said about his sons: "They think about my mortality. They worry about my mortality. Not so much David, but me.

.. [My sons] love their daddy, so they want me to be around forever, [and] I would love to be around forever.

" The star also previously opened up about how he might not live to become a grandfather. "I want to see them have children and get married. I don't think I'm going to be around for that.

Who knows? You never know. So that's why I want to use the best time - the best of my time - while I'm around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious," he said.

Last year, Sir Elton stunned fans when he revealed he couldn't see live on stage . The musician was welcoming fans to the West End production of musical he wrote, The Devil Wears Prada , starring Vanessa Williams, when he admitted "lost his eyesight and can't see the stage". The RocketMan star's legion of loyal fans sent their well wishes to Elton after he made the admission on stage in London while supported by his husband, David Furnish.

However, the star has been battling a number of health woes over the years. In October, Elton took to social media, saying: "To be honest with you, there's not much of me left. I don't have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix.

I don't have a prostate. I don't have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.

But I'm still here." Elton revealed he had lost his sight after contracting an infection while holidaying in the South of France. Taking to Instagram in September, the star said: "Over the summer, I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.

I am healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. "I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks. I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.

With love and gratitude." Dad-of-two Elton was also diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in early 2000. Revealing he had made a drastic change to his diet in an effort to control his blood sugar levels, the star recently admitted it had been a "long time" since he'd enjoyed a sweet treat.

The music legend was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 and opted for surgery rather than chemotherapy because he did not want the disease “hanging over” his family. However, following treatment for the cancer, the Sacrifice star developed an infection, which he claimed left him "24 hours from death". Sir Elton also previously postponed the 2021 dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to undergo surgery for an injury he sustained after an awkward fall on a hard surface caused "considerable pain and discomfort" in his hip.

When he announced the news, the singer explained that "despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving." He added: "I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications." Following the surgery and further delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Elton didn't return to the stage until 2023.
