A singer-songwriter said his faith in humanity has been restored after he was reunited with sentimental items stolen in a burglary. Among the property taken from Sam Tompkins' home in Brighton on Thursday was his late father’s crucifix, which he had worn up until his death last year. Last week, the 27-year-old musician released a heartfelt plea to the public to help get the items back.

"My house in Brighton was burgled last night and among the countless amounts of items stolen, my dad’s cherished cross necklace that he sadly passed away wearing last year is included. “My dad was a Christian man who felt a little safer whilst wearing it each day of his life.

I felt safer and more comforted knowing it was with me and now that it’s gone, I feel mortified. This necklace means more to me than any materialistic possession..

. they stole my Hummingbird Gibson guitar as well as a laptop and all my jewellery, which is sad but nothing compares to losing this necklace. “I feel tremendous guilt and sadness knowing it is gone and I will never be able to see it again. “This is my last chance of trying to reach out and find out if anybody knows anything. Even if the person that did this could find it in their hearts to bring this thing back, it would be life changing and would restore my faith in the world a bit.

The necklace is incredibly important to the artist (Image: Sam Tompkins/X) “I’m so sad and I really wouldn’t come to Instagram if I wasn’t desperate the pictures we have are limited, but I’m hoping that there is some miracle here. If you or anyone you know has any information, please contact me. Thanks so much.

Hoping we can find it. Sam was reunited with his guitar and his father John’s necklace at a police station at the weekend. “It’s been found,” Sam said in an emotional statement on social media.

“My dad is smiling from above. My guitar too. “Thank you to everyone who shared and spread the word.

“I never thought I would see it again. This has restored all my faith in humanity. “Thank God.
