SINGER: Toward peace in Ukraine?

A key topic in foreign affairs is the shift of American policy re Ukraine and its David and Goliath war with Russia, which Pres. Trump wants ended via an eventual peace accord, however shaky. Here all observers need to tread warily, too.

And recall that Trump inherited a giant mess in Ukraine, among others going back to the Biden era. His MO here will itself be messy, but he wants to stop pouring endless money into Ukraine and first obtain a durable ceasefire to save lives and property in this horrid war theater. Yes, despite all the difficulties to come: initially, Russia using a “pause” for its military advantage; and then? Among many searing issues en route to “peace,” think only of the 20,000 or so Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia, and who need to come home, and in what shape? Through it all, we know how untrustworthy Putin will be.
