The project is expected to take around two years to complete.

Singapore Airlines has begun a two-year project that will see it invest tens of millions of dollars into an upgrade of its lounge experiences at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). Work on the enhancements commenced today, with the Star Alliance member specifically focusing on its lounges in Terminal 2 at the world-famous airport. As well as upgrading the facilities, the lounges will also be made larger.

Drawing on previous enhancements to existing Singapore Airlines lounges elsewhere at Changi Airport, the Singaporean flag carrier also plans to improve the food and beverage offering in its Terminal 2 lounges as part of the two-year upgrade program. With construction carried out in phases so as to minimize operational disruption for passengers, every aspect has been carefully thought through. Multiple Lounges Will Be Made Bigger & Better Singapore Airlines announced earlier today that construction had begun on a renovation project concerning its lounges in Terminal 2 at Singapore Changi Airport , its main hub.

The carrier has invested S$45 million (US$34 million) into transforming its SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges in the terminal, with the project set to wrap up in around two years' time, in the middle of 2027. Drawing on " signature elements from Singapore Airlines' flagship lounges at Changi Airport Terminal 3 ," the renovated facilities will feature upgraded facilities and an enhanced food and beverage offering. Furthermore, as well as getting better, they will also get bigger, with " 50% more space and seating capacity " listed as one of the changes.

Yeoh Phee Teik, SVP of Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines , said: "This significant investment underscores Singapore Airlines' unwavering commitment to elevating the end-to-end travel experience for our customers. Building on the success of our Terminal 3 lounges, we are extending our signature hospitality and thoughtfully curated offerings to Terminal 2. This upgrade reaffirms our continued dedication to providing a seamless, world-class experience that meets the high expectations of our discerning customers.

" What Do The Upgrades Entail? Singapore Airlines has different plans in place for each of the lounges that it is working on as part of the upgrades. For example, the Star Alliance member notes that, in the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, whose capacity is set to double amid the enhancements, " new amenities will include in-lounge restrooms and shower suites ." This will be a welcome relief to those looking to freshen up during layovers.

Some of the most impressive upgrades can be found in the First Class SilverKris Lounge, which, as detailed below, will be the first facility to be enhanced during the staggered renovation. Here, passengers will have a greater variety of food and drink, with a choice of both self-serve buffet options and live cooking stations. With a new bar and floor-to-ceiling windows, it will certainly be a vibrant place to be.

Business class passengers will also have their part of the SilverKris Lounge upgraded, with this work commencing towards the end of this year. While this facility won't grow by quite the same extent, its 30% expansion will still be a welcome relief at busy times. Among the most notable features of this lounge's upgrade is its " redesigned living room area with diverse seating options including wingback chairs, sofa seats, and productivity pods ," which will optimize comfort.

Singapore Airlines Is The Largest Carrier At Changi Airport Given its status as the flag carrier of Singapore, it is unsurprising to see that Singapore Airlines has the largest presence at Changi Airport. Indeed, according to Cirium , an aviation analytics company, the carrier is operating 9,687 of the facility's 29,437 flights this month (32.

9%), carrying 2,573,037 of the airport's 6,984,598 seats (36.8%). This puts it at the top of the pile across both of these metrics.

This huge presence underlines the importance of having a large and diverse range of airport lounges to meet the varying wants and needs of its customers at all times of day. While a lot of Singapore Airlines' busiest routes from Changi Airport are short-haul Asian corridors, with Jakarta sitting at the top of the pile on 247 round trips this month, certain long-haul destinations like London Heathrow Airport are served four times a day on average this April, with 120 flights in each direction..
