Thankfully, cleaning influencer Lynsie Crombie, also known as Lynsey Queen Of Clean, has gathered a selection of tips to discourage the critters.

On her Instagram, she shared a video, captioning it: "Spider season [spider emoji] Autumn tends to mark the start of spider mating season, which means you are likely to spot these creepy crawlies popping up all over your home." She further advised: "As well as keeping your home clean, check for spiderwebs [spider web emoji] and follow the simple tips." One of Lynsey's pointers is simply to catch spiders and release them outside, reports the Express .

In the video, she says: "It's spider season guys, so grab yourself one of these really handy spider catchers, and no harm comes to the spider." While extracting spiders can be a solution, Lynsey suggests several preventative measures to stop them from entering in the first place. Lynsey recommends placing cinnamon sticks or powder at entrance areas and corners because spiders can't stand the aroma.

She even lights cinnamon-scented candles to ensure the spiders remain at bay. There's another scent that can ward off spiders, with Lynsey advising: "Dilute some peppermint oil into a spray bottle and use this to spray all around your entranceways. This is going to stop them coming in, as again, they hate the small.

" She then recommended pouring boiling water down your sink plughole - then keeping it plugged shut or covered with an upside-down glass to stop any creepy crawlies climbing through the pipes.
