Read More It has been a year since the release of Dev Patel’s directorial debut, Monkey Man . Despite being a Hollywood production, the film features Indian actors like Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, Ashwini Kalsekar and Vipin Sharma apart from Sikandar Kher, who made his Hollywood debut through the action thriller. On Saturday, Kher took a trip down memory lane to celebrate the special occasion as he shared BTS photos from the sets of the film in an intriguing post.
The opening image of the carousel shows a group photo featuring the cast and crew of Monkey Man. Posing happily at the LA premiere of the film, they all looked excited in the photo and rightfully so. The subsequent pictures depict some shots from the Dev Patel directorial.
A heartwarming selfie featuring both Dev and Kher is also attached to the post. Next, there is a photo of Sobhita with her face soaked in blood. Additional photos show Kher posing for solo photos on the set.
In the last few slides, we can see the poster of Monkey Man, followed by a selfie of Kher as he poses in a grey Tee, flaunting his casual look. The short caption attached to the post read, “It’s been a year." Monkey Man is yet to be released in India owing to its alleged controversial theme.
Despite the positive response from the audience, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) halted its release but has not issued an official ban. Speaking with Hindustan Times, the actor expressed his disappointment for the same and said, “I can’t say it isn’t disappointing because I have a lot of people who keep asking where and when they can watch It. If it was in my hand, I would have released it tomorrow.
You want your people at home to see your work, especially people who are rooting for you. It’s unfortunate, but I hope that at some point, they get a chance to watch it." Dev Patel was nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer at the 78th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
As for Sikandar Kher, the actor was last seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles..
