Sika takes time off duties

NCD Police Command will be headed temporarily by Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, who is currently the Officer-in-Charge of Criminal Investigation Division, in the command. Supt Rubiang a no-nonsense officer takes over a very trying police command that has faced its own share of issues. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (NCD and Central Command) Peter Guinness said Supt Rubiang will act as Metropolitan Commander while Silva Sika (pictured) is out of the country.

“Met Supt Silva Sika is attending an overseas course and will be away for a month. “Supt Rubiang, OIC CID, was appointed as acting Met Supt in his place until he returns to take back his post, “ ACP Guinness said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (regional operations) Samson Kua also confirmed there were no changes to the NCD command.



Supt Rubiang has worked his way up the ranks having served as acting provincial police commander in Chimbu in 2011. He was then appointed as the Highlands Criminal Investigation Division Officer in Charge in 2012. His recent appointment was as Madang police commander in 2022.
