3 TCWS No. 2 TCWS No. 1 PAGASA said Nika last monitored 100 kilometers east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora moving west northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 180 kph. “Nika may make landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora this morning,” PAGASA said. “The tropical cyclone will then traverse the landmass of mainland Luzon today and emerge over the sea west of Ilocos Sur this evening,” PAGASA said.
PAGASA said Nika may weaken into a severe tropical storm while passing mainland Luzon due to land interaction. Nika is seen to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday morning or afternoon, according to PAGASA. — KBK, GMA Integrated News.
