Siewah, Ramtahal named schools cricket MVPs

Fatima College’s Zachary Siewah and Barrackpore East Secondary’s Amrita Ramtahal were named the Boys and Girls Premier Division Most Valuable Players, when the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) rewarded its high achievers at its annual prize-giving and awards function, Tuesday, at Signature Hall, Montrose, Chaguanas. The Presentation colleges dominated the Premier Division, with Pres Chaguanas, being named Team of the Year for winning two titles and also finishing as Inter-Col runners-up, behind Pres San Fernando. For his stellar work with Championship Division winners Asja Boys San Fernando, Annaz Mohammed was named Coach of the Year.

For Queen’s Park cricketer Siewah, Tuesday’s award ceremony was the culmination of high goals he set pre-season. In his final year at Fatima, the Upper six, Caroni–based, cricketer was named the season’s MVP, after scoring 438 runs over the season and also taking 13 wickets. He told Express of only marginally falling short of fulfilling all his ambitious from the beginning of the season.



“My goal was finishing with 500 runs. I fell sort by a little bit, but I am still happy with what I got,” Siewah declared. “My goal was also to get 15 wickets in the tournament, and I fell short by two.

” Siewah now hopes to make a mark, first at club level, then national level, and eventually to fulfil a strong desire of playing for the West Indies. “My future is to play for TKR (Trinbago Knight Riders) and West Indies after.
