As the only Iban member of our KRT, I feel very proud to have contributed to this event,” she told reporters when met at D’Simpang 3 Café here yesterday.Irene ImangApart from ensuring the right taste and balance of the bubur lambuk, Irene also helped out with the packaging before the savoury porridge was distributed to the public, as part of the programme’s ‘Lan Berambeh Sungkei Perdana’ at Dataran Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang yesterday evening.According to KRT Kampung Hilir chairman Mohamad Hakim, the bubur lambuk cooking event involved KRT Kampung Hilir, KRT NBAB (Nangka, Bandong and Abang Barieng), KRT Datuk Baru, and KRT Kemuyang Fasa I.



“We are very honoured that our KRT was chosen by the National Unity Ministry to host this event,” he said.A total of 2,000 containers of bubur lambuk were prepared for distribution.Similar preparation events also took place at two other locations, the Surau Darul Jannah of Kampung Datu Baru and the Malaysian Muslim Welfare Organisation (Perkim) Sibu Centre.

Mohamad HakimAdding on, Mohamad Hakim emphasised the importance of such programmes in fostering a strong spirit of unity.“This activity not only involves the Malays here, but also the Ibans and other communities.“It is very meaningful as it brings us together, regardless of race, religion and background,” he said.
