Sibu MP sponsors students, teachers to attend ICIA 2025 in Vietnam

On his right is Lau.SIBU (April 4): Sibu MP Oscar Ling is sponsoring a seven-member delegation from the Sibu Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics Association (STEAM) for their participation in the 2025 International Creativity & Innovation Awards (ICIA).

The delegation will represent Malaysia in the competition, set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from April 25 till 28.According to Ling, the decision to fund for a part of the competition’s expenses aligns with the Madani government’s commitment to encourage outstanding students who qualify for international-level competitions.“It is also meant to guide the teachers as well as encourage parents and students that government financial assistance is a crucial driving force,” he said in a statement.



The team members include Victor Hii Jun Siong, Franco Yaw Zhi Wen and Luke Yong Nuo Hua from SMK Methodist, with their teacher Lo Ming Jun; and Feliz Loh Li Fei from SJKC Chung Hua, with his teacher Anne Loh Jin Lin.The delegation is led by Sibu District Education officer Lau Lih Ha.In her brief remarks, Lau expressed gratitude to Ling for sponsoring part of the expenses for her and teacher Lo to travel to Beijing, China in 2024, where they served as judges at the 2024 International Innovation and Technology Summit.
