SHUATS to close 10 depts due to financial crisis

Prayagraj: Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture , Technology & Sciences ( SHUATS ) has decided to close 10 departments from July 1 due to financial crisis . This would also lead to termination of services of 53 teachers of the institute. SHUATS registrar Prof Ranu Prasad issued an order regarding this decision on Friday and said the decision was taken on the recommendations of the Senate, Management Board and Academic Council of the institute.

He said the decision was made in view of the economic crisis going on in the institute for the last few years. The departments that would shut down include civil engineering (10 teachers), mechanical engineering (14 teachers), electronics and communication engineering (10 teachers), electrical engineering (7 teachers), textile and apparel designing (3 teachers), family resource management and consumer science (1 teacher), human development and family studies (1 teacher), extension education and management (2 teachers), school of film and mass communication (4 teachers), and library and information science section (1 teacher). The service of these 53 teachers will end on June 30.
