KUALA LUMPUR: A diamond necklace family heirloom and a gold chain symbolising love were presented to Erissa Puteri Hashim of Ceria Popstar fame on her wedding day to Muhamad Danial Iskandar today.The nikah (solemnisation) ceremony for Erissa, 22, and Danial, 26, both dressed in elegant ivory-white, took place at a luxury hotel around 11 am.Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) marriage registrar Dr Adam Drahman officiated the union, with Erissa's father, Hashim Daud, serving as her wali (guardian).
During the ceremony, the groom presented a dowry of 70 grammes of gold, accompanied by nine trays of gifts, in exchange for eleven trays from the bride's side. The monetary value of the gifts was not disclosed. Approximately 200 guests, comprising family members and close friends, attended the joyous occasion.
Erissa expressed her gratitude that the ceremony proceeded smoothly and effortlessly."Praise be to God, I am very relieved, but at the same time, it is very difficult to leave my family. As a daughter, I am very close to them.
"However, this doesn't mean I'm completely leaving and staying away," she said, adding, "I feel emotional but relieved," she said.Acknowledging that many were surprised by her marriage after a relatively short one-year courtship with Danial, Erissa conveyed her confidence in his ability to navigate married life."Danial is very patient.
He puts up with my loud, babbling nature. He also shows me affection."That's what makes me confident in him," she said.
Erissa also said that she sees no conflict in ending her single life at a young age while her artistic career is blossoming."Regarding my age and artistic career, I have no problem because my in-laws have their own production company. They understand my career," she said.
Meanwhile, Danial expressed his relief and his commitment to supporting Erissa's artistic pursuits."I don't see my wife as just an artiste. I'm attracted to her stance," he said.
Erissa gained fame as a participant in the second season of Ceria Popstar in 2014 and later ventured into acting with roles in Astro dramas such as "Geng UPSR," "Puasa Oh Puasa," and "SMK," among others.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
