KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and actor Alif Satar has taken to social media to remind teenagers that bullying is far from 'cool' and can lead to severe consequences, even death, for those who perpetrate it.The 34-year-old artiste shared sobering stories on his TikTok account yesterday, drawing from his conversations with prisoners incarcerated for various crimes, including those involving fatal bullying incidents. This comes in the wake of a recent alleged hazing case at a boarding school.

"I've met with prison inmates who are serving time for different offenses, including cases where bullying resulted in death," Alif said.He directly addressed youngsters who might mistakenly believe that bullying others enhances their status among peers, emphasising the stark reality of ending up in prison for such actions."There's absolutely nothing 'cool' about being in prison, where you're confined with no windows, no comfortable mattresses, and unappetising meals.

"To those who think physically hurting others makes them look 'cool' in school, let me tell you that no one genuinely admires someone who hits others," he said.Alif then offered a different perspective on what true "coolness" entails. "Do you know what is actually 'cool'? It's following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, such as caring for your parents, seeking knowledge, and contributing to the community.

Smoking isn't 'cool' either."He added: "Only foolish individuals will think you're 'cool' for assaulting others."Alif also urged teenagers to consider the far-reaching impact of their actions.

"Before you decide to bully someone, potentially causing serious injury or even death, remember that your actions will have devastating consequences not only for you but also for your parents, the victim's parents, and everyone around you."© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
