It's exactly what the 26-year-old accomplished during her recent debut for the , helping the border outfit to a 95-87 victory against Canberra Nationals with 30 points in front of her new home crowd. Lupfer is renowned for her scoring ability and currently holds the record of 350 for most three-pointers made at Boise State University, where she played college basketball.
"It's about getting lots of shots up and obviously hitting the gym," Lupfer said. "But my turning point was mentally. "It was like I know I can hit them, but I just needed to work on the mental side of it.
"From there I became a shooter." Originally from the state of Washington in the US, Lupfer enjoyed a stint in the NBL1 South competition with Launceston before arriving in Albury. She felt right at home in front of the Border fans.
"It was a lot of fun," Lupfer said. "When I played in the South division, it was very similar; the stands were always packed. "I think Australia likes their basketball.
" While it's her first time on the Border, Lupfer closely followed former Bandit and fellow Washington-born basketballer "I grew up playing against Mikayla," she said. "I followed them (Bandits) last year when they went 20 and 0, and obviously Lauren Jackson as well." Western Australian recruit Caitlyn Jones also made a statement in her debut, landing 24 points, five rebounds and 11 assists.
