Shogun is returning for a second, and a third, season! The hit FX series had a massive debut, notching FX’s biggest streaming debut since The Bear , and it has continued it’s success since it debuted in February 2024. It was announced to be renewed for two more seasons in May 2024. Most recently, the show earned a whopping 25 nominations at the 2024 Emmy Awards , and it won 18 of those, including a history-making win for Anna Sawai .
Based on James Clavell ‘s novel, the series set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village. With all the buzz surrounding Shogun and in anticipation of the second season, we’re taking a look at who all is set to return for season two and who likely won’t be.
