Pune: Shiv Sena has directed party workers to project and publicise the achievements and works of deputy chief minister and party chief Eknath Shinde to counter the controversial remarks made against him by stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra . Cabinet minister and Sena senior member Uday Samant visited Pune and Sangli district, last week, and held meetings with party workers following the criticism. He emphasised putting out a strong image of Shinde.

He told party workers to reach out to people with the decisions Shinde made as the CM of Maharashtra during his tenure of two-and-half years. A senior Sena member told TOI, "The Kunal Kamra issue received national attention and there were strong reactions against and for the remarks made by the comedian. Party seniors felt the need to counter the anti-Shinde narrative in an aggressive manner.

Therefore, we have started to highlight Shinde's work as the CM during Mahayuti's tenure earlier." After Kamra's poem was released, a group of Sena workers vandalised the venue where the show was recorded in Mumbai. Sena members have been told to maintain an aggressive stance, while spreading a positive image of Shinde.

"During his visit, Samant told party officebearers to keep reminding Shiv Sainiks that Shinde has been the sole reason for the party's growth. Nearly 25% of votes that party candidates got are only because of the former CM and this should be publicised by party workers while enrolling new members into the party ahead of civic elections," the senior Sena member said.
