Shimmering hips and giving hearts will take centre stage for special show

Fusion, culture, and a whole lot of shimmering. or signup to continue reading That's what Border Bellydance hopes people take away from a charity dinner show on May 3. Following the overwhelming success of the 2023 event, Border Bellydance owner Samantha Moore said the decision to bring the event back to La Maison's Restaurant was an easy one after the strong community response.

Mrs Moore said there was a big gap in the dancing community for styles such as belly dance. "There are more than " she said. "I had this idea that if we put on a show for the public, people could see what we do without any judgement.



" "Our first one was fantastic, but we wanted to put all the profit into something else." She said 100 per cent of the ticket prices would go straight to Carevan, aiding people in need on the Border with meals and support. "We hope to raise around $10,000 this time," she said.

"But we do need more people interested. Restaurant owner Wassim Saliba said it was much more than just a dinner show; it was a "multicultural experience". Chief executive officer of Carevan, Rachelle Armstrong, said the dance style was "empowering".

"It's for men and women and outside the norm," Ms Armstrong said. "It's mind-blowing to see people put their time and energy and creativity into fundraising for us," she said. The event will run from 6pm and include canapes and a drink on arrival, plus the option to upgrade to a drinks package, a three-course Middle Eastern menu, and plenty of fun.
