The college football season is far from over, but that hasn't stopped fans from already looking ahead to the NFL draft. The biggest debate around the draft, that is still months away, is regarding which college quarterback will be taken first. Coming into the year, players like Texas' Quinn Ewers, Georgia's Carson Beck and Alabama's Jalen Milroe were all viewed as contenders for the top spot.
However, eight games into the season, the conversation has since turned into a two-horse race between Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. While Sanders may have been interested in leaving for the draft after 2023, his father/coach, Deion Sanders, made it clear he wanted him to return. Something that Shedeur confirmed would not be the case this time around in a recent Well Off Media video.
Prior to the team finishing practice, a coach could be heard reminding them to register for classes at 8:30 AM. A reminder that the star quarterback revealed doesn't apply to him. "Man I'm going to the league," Sanders said .
After a teammate joked that Sanders was coming back next year, the signal caller doubled down. "Do not wish that on me man," Sanders said. "Hey registration.
..I know after that last game man, Y'all are not going to see me.
.." Mark J.
Rebilas-Imagn Images This isn't too surprising, considering Sanders is battling for that No. 1 spot in the class, and was projected to go No. 2 overall to the Tennessee Titans in a recent CBS Sports mock draft.
Sanders ranks among the best quarterbacks in the country in just about every category possible. He comes in at No. 8 nationally in passing yards (2,591), t-No.
3 in passing touchdowns (21) and is No. 2 in the country in completion percentage (72.4%).
On top of his individual success, he also has the Buffs in a position to contend for the Big 12 title and College Football Playoff spot. After having this past weekend off, Sanders and the No. 21 Buffaloes (6-2) will hit the road on Saturday to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
