In Week 12 of the 2024 college football season, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes picked up their fourth straight win after defeating the Utah Utes 49-24 at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't the best start for the senior out of Dallas, Texas.

On the very first play of the game, Sanders attempted a pass over the middle that was intercepted by Utah's Lander Barton and returned to the Colorado 21-yard line. The Utes made it all the way to the three on offense, but the Buffaloes' defense stood tall, holding them to just a field goal. After the game, Sanders spoke to the media and mentioned his poor start, making sure everyone knew his plan to apologize to his team.

"I'm gonna have a talk with the whole offense," Sanders said. "Apologize for my performance out there at the very beginning because I can't put the team in that type of situation. I'm thankful for the defense.

I may have to take them out to dinner this week for saving me and saving the team." Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images Sanders went on to discuss how complete of a team Colorado is. "When you have a good team overall, it's complimentary football," Sanders added.

"You put all phases together: offense, defense, special teams, we can't be stopped. But it was just one phase that wasn't working early on, and that was the offense, but the rest of the phases were there..

. But we can't afford to start off like that." Shedeur Sanders holds himself accountable for the Colorado Buffaloes early offensive struggles vs.

His partner in crime, Travis Hunter, added five catches for 55 yards, a rushing score and a pick. Colorado (8-2, 6-1 in Big 12 play) has two games left in the regular season and will likely need to win out if it wants a chance at making the College Football Playoff.

The final stretch begins with a Week 13 battle against the Kanas Jayhawks in Kansas City, Missouri. Related: Gus Johnson’s Five-Word Message After Mind-Blowing Travis Hunter Catch Against Utah.
