Sharvari marked her acting debut with Kabir Khan’s web series The Forgotten Army: Azaadi Ke Liye co-starring Sunny Kaushal in 2020. Her maiden big screen outing was Bunty Aur Babli 2 that released a year later. However, her association with the film industry dates back to 2015 when she assisted Luv Ranjan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Bajirao Mastani, respectively.

In the past, Sharvari has also been vocal about the biggies she auditioned for like Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan and Varun Dhawan-Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga but couldn’t crack eventually. Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, she reveals that she became an assistant director on the Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone starrer when she went in to audition for a film that was being produced by the filmmaker. “I was supposed to do a film with Sanjay sir’s production house.

I had auditioned for that and had gotten shortlisted,” she recalls. However, things didn’t go as planned and the project was put on the backburner. Talking about it, she says, “We did a couple of workshops and then there was a bit of pause on that film because of some technical reasons.

They had to figure something out and rework on the script. In that interim, I asked them if I can assist with them. At that time, Bajirao Mastani was also on floors and I requested if I can be an intern on that one.

They obliged and were very happy to give me that job (smiles).” Sharvari has often said that she aspires to being directed by the Padmavaat and Gangubai Kathiawadi director someday. So, has she spoken to him in recent times, especially after delivering a slew of noteworthy performances in Munjya, Maharaj and Vedaa? “I haven’t gotten the opportunity to chat with him recently.

But I really I hope do. I’ve never told him that I want to be his heroine. I’ve expressed it everywhere but not to him (laughs).

One day, I hope my dream comes true,” she remarks. Yet another filmmaker she holds in high regard is Aditya Chopra, who she admits is also a mentor figure for her. “If I’m ever in a certain doubt or in need any kind of guidance, I always reach out to him.

But you got to make most decisions on your own. He’s also someone who thinks that people should make decisions for themselves. But he’s really appreciative of everyone’s hard work,” she says.

Sharvari further adds, “For instance, he loved Maharaj and everyone’s performance in it including mine. It’s actually good to know that you delivered what was expected of you. Adi sir was the producer of Maharaj and so, it was validating to meet his expectations.

And this applies to every film. Even with Munjya, we felt very good because Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan; producer) was very happy with the film. To add to it, it unexpectedly did so well.
