Read More Shannon K, daughter of iconic Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu , is all set to light up the stage at Coachella 2025. Making history, Shannon will be the first indie Indian-origin musician to represent India at the globally celebrated music festival. Following in the footsteps of artists like Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon, Shannon will perform live in front of an estimated 1,20,000 music lovers at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The festival runs from April 11 to 13. Expressing her excitement, Shannon told ANI, “It’s on the bucket list of every Indian-origin indie artist trying to break boundaries and be heard. Indian music is so rich — from classical to R&B to pop — and it’s often underrated.

This is the beginning of something incredible, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it." Her Coachella set promises to be a genre-blending showcase. Fans can expect a mix of her original indie-pop tracks like Give Me Your Hand, A Longtime, Always, Run, Retrace, and OMT — her popular collaboration with Sonu Nigam.

In a special tribute to her musical roots, she’s also planning to include some of her father’s iconic Bollywood hits. With this milestone, Shannon K not only celebrates her journey but also puts indie Indian-origin music firmly on the global map. Earlier in an interview with Zoom, Shannon shared how her father, Kumar Sanu supported her decision to pursue a music career.

She noted “My dad was very happy. He was the one who inspired me to start singing in the first place. He influenced me and he told me that I should take up singing as my career.

He saw a little bit of a spark in me." She added that her father assured her that if she continued to work hard on singing and practice music, she would undoubtedly become a great singer. Shannon noted that although her mother was unsure about the decision, overall she feels that are happy for her.
