With a bombshell report having surfaced three years after the death of Shane Warne, we look back at the life and times of the cricket great.

When it comes to sports personalities who dominated headlines on and off the field, there are few who can compare to iconic cricketer Shane Warne, who tragically passed away in 2022. Found unresponsive in a Thai resort, Warne died of a suspected heart attack aged just 52, sending the sports community across the globe into widespread mourning. Although the official medical report has stated that he died of natural causes, and that no foul play was suspected, there have been some lingering questions over his final hours.

Some three years later, the Daily Mail has conducted an exclusive investigation that suggests a key item – allegedly a sex drug called Kamagra – was removed from the hotel room where he was found. During the course of his career and post-retirement, Warne was certainly no stranger to these sorts of exposés, and here we take a look at just some of the wild storylines that made headlines at different times. Shane Warne: Scandals and crazy stories In 1995, Warne was fined by the Australian Cricket Board along with Mark Waugh for accepting money from a bookmaker, reportedly sharing information about pitch and weather conditions.

In 2003, during the Cricket World Cup, Warne tested positive for diuretics – which can reportedly be used to mask other substances – but he stated that this was ultimately just to help him lose weight. When it came to off-field scandals, a few years ago, MailOnline reported he had been involved in a “four-way sex party” with his then lover and two escorts at his home in London. And in 2018 another sex scandal surfaced when rumours of his now infamous threesome with two models and a blow-up sex toy came to light.

Warne was previously married to model Simone Callahan, with whom he has three children — Brooke, Jackson and Summer — while he also famously dated and got engaged to actress Elizabeth Hurley before going their separate ways in 2013. Yet, whatever stories made headlines, there can be no doubt that Warne was a ‘cricketing genius who lived with no regrets’. And his colourful life was perhaps best summarised in this superb article .
