Shane Ross: Michael Lowry’s resurrection gives Sinn Féin the kiss of life

Sinn Féin has the Government on the run. Barely two months after a stunning election victory, the Fianna Fáil-Fine Gael coalition is fighting a rearguard action on many fronts. Mary Lou McDonald is behaving as though her humiliating defeat was an aberration.

The political agenda, astonishingly, is being set by the leader of the opposition. Micheál Martin and Simon Harris have handed gift after gift to Sinn Féin. In a succession of own goals, the biggest blunder has been the duo’s resurrection of Michael Lowry, perversely a kiss of life for Sinn Féin.
