In preparing for her role, Koirala wanted to portray her character as more than a traditional “villain.” Ratnam guided her to embody her character's anger and vulnerability in a nuanced way, allowing her to portray a “normal girl” with internal struggles that defy stereotypical depictions.
“As an artist, for me, that was a great opportunity to explore the negative side of the character. I had always played lovable and good roles, but this was different. It was not typical and I liked it,” she explained.
