Sex offender, gang member arrested in Charlottesville after removing ankle monitor

A known gang member and registered sex offender was taken into custody after Charlottesville police say he removed his court-ordered ankle monitor. Pritchett Joshua Pritchett, a 41-year-old resident of Albemarle County, was arrested Sept. 6 after police said he broke the terms of his probation by removing the monitor.

Charlottesville police said officers were notified by the locally based District 9 parole and probation office around 10:18 a.m. on Sept.



6 that Pritchett had removed his ankle monitor within city limits despite being on supervised probation. "Detectives were given the last known location and immediately responded to that area with District 9 officers," the Charlottesville Police Department said in a statement. By 10:30 a.

m., Pritchett was in custody. Pritchett was initially booked at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail but was moved on Sept.

13 to Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange, where he remains in custody, according to jailhouse records. "The timely notification by District 9 Probation and the quick response by CPD resulted in Pritchett being taken into custody quickly and without incident," police said. "His damaged ankle monitor was also located in the area where he was found.
