There is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms for Orangeburg, Calhoun and Bamberg counties on Sunday. The main threats are locally damaging winds and a couple of tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service’s Friday weather brief. The storms are forecast to roll in late Sunday morning and into the afternoon, according to the NWS.
The NWS said the forecast is still uncertain. Forecasters aren’t sure if all the ingredients for severe weather – strong wind shear, instability and deep moisture – will come together at the same time. Saturday is forecast to have a high temperature of 70, with patchy fog and a slight chance of rain.
Sunday’s high temperature is forecast to reach 71, with a 90 percent chance of showers. Rainfall could be between half and three-quarters of an inch. Contact the writer: gzaleski@timesanddemocrat.
