The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch through 1 a.m. Saturday for Freeborn County and south-central Minnesota.

Scattered strong to severe storms are possible.The weather agency has listed southern Minnesota under a slight risk for severe storms. All severe threats are possible with strong winds having the highest likelihood.



South southeast winds are expected to be around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90% with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.Rain will mix with snow after 10 a.

m. Saturday and then gradually end as temperatures drop. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.
