Severe storm warning issued for Riverina, heavy rain and hail possible

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe storm warning for the Riverina with heavy rain, wind and hail possible over several hours through Friday afternoon. or signup to continue reading The storm warning was announced at 1.09pm on October 18 as a trough and cold front moved east across central and south-eastern parts of NSW.

Residents are being warned the system could bring damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding. Conditions will continue developing over the next several hours as the system moves east towards the Great Dividing Range during the afternoon and evening.



The SES advises to secure loose items, move cars away from trees, stay indoors and stay up to date with any further warnings. The next BOM warning is scheduled to update at 4.10pm.

In Victoria, the Bureau of Meteorology cancelled a severe weather warning issued for people in the North East, East Gippsland, West and South Gippsland forecast districts. "Damaging winds have eased, but ongoing threat of severe thunderstorms," the bureau said. The weather station at Albury Airport recorded between 3.
