WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Severance season 2, episode 6 - Attila The latest episode of Severance saw a tense dinner unfold between Irving (portrayed by John Turturro), Burt Goodman (Christopher Walken) and his spouse Cecil Fields (John Noble). The encounter left viewers of the Apple TV+ series with more questions about the retired Lumon OandD worker. In the episode titled Attila, it was revealed that Burt was not as honourable as previously believed.

He even went as far as to label himself a "scoundrel" and compared himself to the infamous barbarian ruler, Attila the Hun. Burt expressed hope that his Innie would reach Heaven alongside Fields, free from his Outie's scandal-ridden past. Adding intrigue, Fields disclosed that he had been working for Lumon with a partner over two decades ago.

Burt later attempted to dismiss this revelation as mere wine-induced chatter, reports the Mirror US . Viewers have been speculating about both Burt and Fields. One fan theorised on Threads: "HOLD ON! ! ! What if the guy walking through the Perpetuity Wing with the medical instruments is Fields?" They added, "I took a close-up look.

.tell me that doesn't look like John Noble! ! ! If that's him, then Fields isn't just Burt's partner! ! he's deep in Lumon's creepy medical side. Is that why Burt is inviting Irving to dinner? ! ! ! Severance [sic].

" Similar theories were echoed on X, with one viewer asking: "Is fields the one who delivers the materials from OandD to the elevator? [sic]." Someone else queried: "Is Fields the dentist? #severance." Another fan chimed in, "i still think the "fields is the whistling guy" theory is interesting but i'm more inclined to believe that burt is the one we should really be worried about.

.. [sic].

" However, this theory was swiftly debunked by another viewer, who pointed out, "Supposedly it's Robbie Benson credited as dental tool guy." Meanwhile, a different fan speculated about the implications of Burt's infidelity, suggesting that it could have prevented him from entering Heaven. They mused, "That's some ridiculous innie logic, but if innie Burt was supposed to "achieve" salvation and he was in there almost cheating on Fields.

.. Imagine Fields' reaction hearing that innie Burt couldn't make heaven for his actions at Lumon [sic].

" On a separate note, a keen-eyed fan spotted a continuity error, noticing that the actor playing Burt's husband had changed. They observed, "Everyone thought Burt's partner, Fields, was played by John Noble in "The We We Are", but it was actually Arthur Brooks. Then in Season 2, they actually swapped Fields' character with John Noble.

Lumon is out here severing our memories in real life." Upon further investigation, a search on IMDb revealed that Arthur Brooks was indeed listed as Cecil in the Severance season one finale, while John Noble, an Australian actor, was credited as Cecil Fields in season two. The reason behind the actor swap remains unclear, but it may have been due to scheduling conflicts, availability, or a deliberate casting decision.

Severance season 2 drops on Apple TV+ on Fridays.
