Five members of the newly-crowned NCAA Season 100 champions University Perpetual Help Junior Altas have committed to stay at the Home of the Altas. UPH Vice President for Sports and team manager Anton Tamayo announced that Most Improved Player awardee Jericho Cristino, JD Pagulayan, Icee Callangan, TJ Tabbuan and Kelsey Baldoria will remain with the Las Pinas-based school under coach Olsen Racela. Regular season and Finals MVP Lebron James Daep and Mythical Five member Jan Roluna have yet to decide which schools they’re heading to although they are reportedly being courted by several schools – including from rival leagues.
Daep’s father, Rommel, was once a star player of San Sebastian College-Recoletos. A relatively quick at 6-foot-7, Daep is a potential star wherever he decides to play – either in the NCAA or UAAP. The five players hope to fulfill their true potentials under the guidance of former San Miguel star who is now one of the trusted lieutenants of coach Tim Cone at Ginebra in the PBA.
They played vital roles in Perpetual’s recent title win, a first in the school’s 41-year history in the league. They beat the La Salle Greenies in a best-of-three series capped by a 101-67 demolition. Also undecided is Aries Borja while Batang Gilas Kurt Velasquez, Louie Rosales, Jim Corpuz, Keanne Zanoria, Lance Nitura, Kurt Patalinhug, Hanz Candido and Kakai Zamoras are hoping to completer their playing years with the Junior Altas.
