Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 11: To commemorate the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, several educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir organized different activities.The NSS Unit of Government College of Education (GCoE), Jammu, organized a thought-provoking seminar and preamble pledge ceremony to mark the occasion. The event was held under the leadership of Dr Jyoti Parihar, Principal of the College, and the guidance of NSS Programme Officer, Professor Sarita Dogra.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished faculty members including Dr Shubhra Jamwal, Professor Kiran Thapa, Professor Deepali, Professor Roopa Kumari, Dr Shalini Sharma and Dr Suraj Prakash.Government Degree College (GDC), R S Pura, organized a drug-free India pledge ceremony to give a heartfelt tribute to Dr Ambedkar. Principal Prof (Dr) Preetpal Kour, led the pledge-taking ceremony, invoking Dr Ambedkar’s ideals of social justice, equality, and moral responsibility.
The whole event was coordinated by Prof Neelam Kumari, convener Drug De-Addiction Committee and co-coordinated by Dr Hari Singh, Dr Sunil Kumar Mangoch and Dr Savleen Kour, members of NSS Committee.GDC Kakryal (Katra) celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti with great enthusiasm and reverence. The event commenced with the garlanding of Dr Ambedkar’s portrait by the Principal and faculty members.
A debate competition was organized to honor the legacy of Dr Ambedkar. Students delivered speeches, and participated in debate competition on the theme “Dr Ambedkar’s Vision for India: Equality and Justice in the India”. In her address, Principal Dr Rajni Bhagat, emphasized the relevance of Dr Ambedkar’s ideals in contemporary times.
To commemorate birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, a quiz competition was organized at GDC Dharmari. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from four teams, each comprising two bright and knowledgeable students. The event was inaugurated by Senior Professor, Dr Shabeer Ahmed Taing, and organized by the College NSS Unit and Debates & Seminar Committee in collaboration with Cultural Cell of the College under the overall guidance of College Principal Dr Rajni Bhagat.
GDC Vijaypur organized a seminar on the theme “Role of BR Ambedkar in nation building and constitutional development”, under the guidance of Principal, Prof (Dr) Ashu Vashist. NSS volunteers participated in the seminar with great enthusiasm and zeal. The seminar commenced with opening remarks by Dr Naseem Chowdhary, who highlighted Dr Ambedkar’s invaluable contributions as a social reformer, jurist, and principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
