Amidst the suspense over who will take charge of the Odisha unit of the Congress as the next Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, senior party leader Mohammad Moqium on Friday said that two senior members of AICC are expected to visit the state for formal talks. It is expected that a formal announcement regarding the next PCC president will be made before Diwali 2024, said Moquim. “The party high command doesn’t want to get influenced by any lobby.
Hence, the party is in search of a leader who will take everybody together and strengthen the party. After the AICC members visit the state, they will submit the report to the high command,” said Moquim. The senior Congress leader and former Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammad Moquim is also said to be in the race for the PCC president along with several other leaders whose names are also doing rounds.
Is There A Delay In PCC Appointment? Moquim said that no other party has started any process while Congress has already prepared a roadmap, dissolved the PCC after the polls, and the entire process would be completed within three months. “As two years are still left for the panchayat elections, the new PCC president will get adequate time to prepare for it,” said Moquim. How Can Congress Be Revived? "Congress is in a good position in Odisha as they got united in two programmes of the party recently.
Already there has been change of government and we are hopeful that things will be brighter for Congress in 2029," he said. Several Leaders To Join Congress Several leaders of various political parties are in touch with us. Once the new PCC president name is announced, they will be joining the Congress, said Mohammad Moquim.
“Not only BJD, the leaders from BJP who are not certain about their political future, they are also keen to join the Congress. When the PCC is constituted, you will see that many MLA and MP candidates who got defeated by a small margin will be with us. Maximum leaders are BJD,” he added.
