Ludhiana: A local court has sentenced Jatinder Kumar , a repeat offender involved in multiple mobile phone snatchings, to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Judge Shiv Mohan Garg also imposed a fine of ₹2,500 on the man, with an additional nine days' imprisonment if the fine remains unpaid. In July 2019, Ludhiana police apprehended Jatinder and two accomplices, Suresh Kumar and Guddu, based on intelligence reports.
Police were tipped off that the trio habitually targeted people leaving the railway station, committing multiple thefts in the area. During a raid in the Tyre Market, authorities found the suspects with several stolen phones. Witness Bharpur Singh later identified Guddu as the person who had snatched his mobile phone.
