Serge Gnabry, Bayern Munich may be at odds over future

Bayern Munich and Germany winger endured a tough and injury-filled season in 2023/24, but — like his club team — is eager to bounce back. But does his club feel the same way? Gnabry’s contract extension was a topic two summers ago for the Bavarians and he ultimately re-upped through 2026. However, the 28-year-old told Sky Sports that he can even imagine playing at Bayern beyond that.

“Definitely,” Gnabry is quoted as saying by Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg . “We’re looking forward to the new season. We all have now put last season behind us.

Last season wasn’t good for us and for me personally with all the injuries etc. That’s why we all want to attack again. The cards will be reshuffled and we’ll do our best next season.

“ However, Bayern are closing in on a major signing of 22-year-old Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, and look set to extend Leroy Sané as well. Plettenberg reports that the Bavarians are open to a “suitable offer” for Gnabry as soon as this summer. The numbers aren’t favorable for Gnabry’s wing partner Kingsley Coman, either.

But per Sky (as captured via @iMiaSanMia ), there is already interest growing for the Frenchman — with Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona , and “an unnamed Premier League club” cited. The Bavarians are said to hope to sell Coman for “around €50m.” Is a major wing remake waiting in the wings in Munich? Looking for more thoughts and analysis on everything going with the German national tea.
