SEPANG: Police are tracking down a suspect involved in an attempted cable theft that disrupted the Express Rail Link (ERL) signalling system near Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi yesterday.Sepang police deputy chief Superintendent Shan Gopal Krishnan said a report on the theft was received at 9.33am from the ERL Air Control Centre in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Km48.
5, heading towards KL Sentral."Checks found that a signal link cable had been cut, but no cables were reported missing."The complainant, an ERL security officer, estimated the damage to be around RM12,000," he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Sections 431A and 447 of the Penal Code.Those with information on the incident may contact investigating officer Sergeant Hishamudin Amin at 011-11739477.Earlier, ERL said a series of cable thefts and a signalling system disruption had caused major service interruptions to the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit lines since yesterday.
