Pune: Shiv Sena leaders from Pimpri Chinchwad have staked their claim to the Pimpri seat, asserting that voters are not happy with sitting NCP MLA Anna Bansode. Shiv Sena MP from Maval Shrirang Barne said that the atmosphere in Pimpri constituency is against Bansode and there is an ongoing tussle for the ticket within the NCP. "We want this seat for Shiv Sena because we do not want Mahayuti to lose any seat in Maharashtra .

Every constituency is important for the alliance," he said. He added that Shiv Sena has won the Pimpri seat in the past and it has been a traditional seat for the party. "I received a good number of votes and a lead from Pimpri in the Lok Sabha poll.

This shows that we are strong here. We have conveyed to CM Eknath Shinde that we should get this seat," Barne said. An undivided Shiv Sena's Vikas Chabukswar won the Pimpri reserved seat (SC) in 2014 but he is with Shiv Sena (UBT).

Bansode said that senior leaders of Mahayuti have decided that sitting MLAs will get tickets from the same constituency. "Pimpri will remain with NCP and Ajit Pawar. I have been working as an MLA for the last five years, and I am hopeful that I will get the ticket.

It is not for Barne but the people to decide if they are unhappy with my work," Bansode added. On whether Shiv Sena will work for the NCP candidate if it does not get the ticket, Barne said, "We will abide by CM Eknath Shinde's decision and work for the Mahayuti candidate." BJP's former standing committee chairman Seema Sawale is hoping for a Mahayuti ticket.
