The Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy is slated to carry out the verification of accuracy readings on fuel dispensing pumps at various fuel stations in November following the Weights and Measures Act 1983 Chapter 151. The guidelines mandate that all weighing and measuring machines used for trading must be checked for accuracy and validity, as well as confirm their registration with the SDT Unit. The relevant fuel stations will be closed from 9am until the completion of the inspection.

The closure is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the public and the workforce involved in the inspection and verification process. The inspection will begin in the Brunei-Muara District, starting with Persatuan TIBA Fuel Station (KOTIBA) at Kampong Salambigar on November 5. This will be followed by inspections at Gadong Fuel Station at Pengkalan Gadong, IBA Fuel Station at Kampong Lambak, and Pekan Muara Fuel Station, on November 6, 7, and 9, respectively.

Inspections will resume the following week on November 11, 12, 13, and 16 at Amanah Fuel Station at Kampong Bebatik Kilanas, Hajah Badariah dan Anak-Anak Fuel Station at Kampong Katok, Koperasi Usahajaya Pekira Bhd Fuel Station at Kampong Jangsak, and Shahryza Fuel Station at Kampong Bunut respectively. Meanwhile, two fuel stations in the Belait District, Koperasi Perniagaan dan Perusahaan Melayu Fuel Station at Seria and Roxana Fuel Station at Jalan Tengah Seria will be inspected on November 14 and 19. Two fuel stations in the Tutong District, the KODRAT Berhad (Koperasi Dataran Gong Tiga) Fuel Station and Perusahaan Cahaya Pakatan Berhad Fuel Station will be inspected on November 19 and 20 respectively.

The final fuel station to be inspected will be the Negalang Maju Sdn Bhd Fuel Station in the Temburong District on November 21. Each inspection is expected to take approximately two hours and occurs three times a year as part of the routine process. – Daniel Lim.
