They are now certain to finish in the top ten of the league and depending on results next weekend, they could finish as high as seventh. Goalkeeper Joe Wilton again had to be on top form with at least two great first-half saves and also had a good second-half with a penalty save included. Against the run of play Town went into a two goal lead midway through the first-half courtesy of Finlay Wade and Matty Dawes.
Sam Bebbington scored for the home side on the stroke of half-time and Matty Ord drew them level in the second-half. Harley Adams got the winner for Selby in the last minute. With injuries taking their toll on the Robins' squad, Dan Davison, Finlay Wade, and Liam Love came back into the starting line-up.
On a hard pitch and with a stiff breeze facing them, Town had an early chance with Liam Love shooting over the bar. At the other end Wilton made a great block to concede a corner and then a mix-up between Wilton and a defender saw a home player shoot wide of the unguarded Selby goal. With the Town defence under increased pressure it was a surprise on 27 minutes when they took the lead.
Sam Calvert flicked the ball to the right and Wade ran onto it and lobbed home goalkeeper Jake Balne from 20 yards. Thorpe, on the right wing was causing problems for the Town defence and as he bore down on goal Wilton did well to get a hand to his shot. Ryan Cooper's side extended their lead on 37 minutes when Calvert knocked the ball again to the right where Caden McGrath was lurking.
His shot across the penalty area was met by Dawes who hammered the ball home from 15-yards. Unfortunately the home side pulled a goal back with the last kick of the half. Alex Marsh was controversially pulled up for a foul on the right wing.
Thorpe hit the free-kick in and Bebbington forced the ball home. Adams came on for Davison for the start of the second-half and Dawes saw an early shot whistle past a post. Dronfield had a chance to equalise on 49 minutes when awarded a penalty after a Jack Bull foul.
Bebbington stepped up and his well hit penalty was pushed away superbly by Wilton diving low to his left. Selby were having to defend well and the pressure told on 57 minutes when Ord turned and shot past Wilton to level the scores. Troy Greening replaced Calvert and he came close to a goal as his shot from the left missed the far post by inches.
Wade also had a shot from the edge of the penalty area that went over the angle of post and bar. At the other end though, Wilton flew off his line to just get to a through ball about to be pounced on by Ord. Selby got the winning goal in the 90th minute.
Clapham went down the right and his cross should have been put away by Charlton. The ball broke to Dawes at the right edge of the penalty area and his cross was met by the diving Adams who headed powerfully home. Unused subs: Cooper Attendance: 143.
